Our Pastor

Our pastor is the Rev. David J Turner. David was born and raised in Greenville, Texas and is a 1973 graduate of Greenville High School. David attended East Texas State University from 1973 - 1975 (now Texas A&M Commerce). Then transferred and graduated with a degree in Psychology from Asbury College. After that David worked on a Master of Pastoral Counseling at Asbury Theological Seminary. Then he received the Master of Divinity from Perkins School of Theology, SMU, Dallas.

David Worked as Youth Director at Trenton UMC. He also served as Senior Pastor at: Lone Oak UMC, College Mound UMC, Trinity UMC (Wichita Falls), Lakewood UMC, New World UMC, First Irving UMC, Floral Heights UMC and First Methodist, Rowlett, Texas. David set the record as longest tenured Senior Pastor at Trinity UMC (nine years) and New World UMC (six years).

David has been married to Joy Turner for 39 years and his mother Margaret lives with them. David and Joy have three children and three children-in-law along with ten grandchildren: Luke, Caleb, Maddie, Jake, Sam, Liam, David, Jack, Ellie and Lucy. David is retired from the North Texas Conference and will be working in the office of First Methodist Cooper on Tuesdays and Thursdays and will be preaching most Sunday mornings.

David enjoys Golf and camping with his wife Joy in their Motor Home with family and friends. Margret enjoys card games and having fun with friends.
